Kyle
Gold & Platinumsmith
Gem Stone Setter
Fine wire filigree & Hand engraving

With over ten years of experience designing and making fine jewelry, Kyle came to Green Lake in 2009 where he continues to expand and refine his skill set. He is currently focused on gemstone setting, hand engraving, and filigree — but also keeps a hand in the design process, working with clients to create original jewelry designs. Recently Kyle participated in the 2011 National Bench Pressure Challenge at the Smart (jewelry) Show in Chicago, placing second overall in the combined wax carving, Hand engraving and stone setting competition.

For as long as he can remember, Kyle has been interested in sculptural arts. In his late teens he gained experience with ceramics, blown glass, and metal working before deciding to pursue custom jewelry and taking an apprenticeship with a Seattle-area jeweler. Over the next several years Kyle gained on-the-job experience and practical knowledge in nearly all aspects of custom jewelry manufacturing as well as jewelry restoration. In 2004, Kyle completed the Diamond Course and Colored Gemstone Course through the Diamond Council of America. He completed the hand engraving course at the Stockton Jewelry Art School in 2006.

In his spare time Kyle enjoys a slightly lighter side of art, creating sculptures out of stuffed animals, making strange spaces for social gatherings, and joggling (running and juggling).

Kyle describes his inspiration as an artist, "I have found meaning in my work through functionality, symbolism, and interactive art. To me, all these things are tied to personal experiences and interactions with others, which I see as the most meaningful part of life. Whether it's glassware used while sharing a meal, a ring that symbolizes a relationship, or an unusual community space used to meet new people, it's the connections between us that ultimately give my work meaning."
