Melissa W
Production Director | Bellevue Studio
Senior Designer
UW Fine Arts & Art History

Melissa found Green Lake in 2003 after graduating from the University of Washington with a focus on fine arts and art history, and has been with the shop ever since. Over that time she’s been engaged in a full spectrum of work here at Green Lake: She’s been a photographer, designer, quality checker, and gemstone buyer. Her skills and knowledge of design have paved the way for her current position as the production director.

Her love for jewelry started as a young girl playing in her mother’s jewelry box. A mix of antique designs with a modern approach is what she is drawn to most. Melissa is especially interested in older cut diamonds, such as such as those cut in a rose or European fashion, and her love for yellow gold is known around the shop.

Though originally from San Diego, Melissa moved to Seattle in 1999 to attend the University of Washington. There she took jewelry making and gemstone cutting classes, and later graduated with a Bachelor or Fine Arts degree as well as a minor in art history. Finding Green Lake shortly thereafter, she has been with the shop ever since. For Melissa, it’s the high level of detail and intricacy that continually draws her to jewelry design.

She is always happy to help with questions, design ideas, and gemstone information.
