Artist at work...

Meg S
Director of Team Growth & Development

I'm an Army brat who moved every three years growing up, mostly through the South (Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee), before landing in Washington my last year of high school. I've never left since. I went to the University of Washington (go Dawgs!) for the ever so marketable degrees of History and International Studies, and I fell into the jewelry business just as I was graduating.

I have several decades in the jewelry industry, starting as a girl Friday at a mom and pop retail jeweler handling sales, buying, appraising, and bookkeeping, then moving into quality control at a chain retailer and eventually Quality Manager for an online retailer. But I found my true passion, Learning & Development, when I began supporting our client facing customer service team. I'm a Graduate Gemologist through GIA, a self proclaimed gem geek, and a Certified Professional in Training Management.

At Green Lake, I combine my love of jewelry and the science of gems with a focus on team development and growth, teaching designers new ways of thinking about a product, sharing gemstone knowledge, or helping instill a growth mindset. I was drawn to a place that felt authentic, and I love that we focus on creating pieces that tell an individual story while giving talented artisans room to grow. I'm impressed daily by the skill around me, from our Designer Row artists to the craftspeople at the bench.

My personal style is classic and clean lined, though I do love a colorful Art Deco ring with bold geometric lines (and of course, platinum!). More than anything, I love helping people mark milestone moments with something that lasts.

Outside of work, you'll find me glamping across the Pacific Northwest and collecting National Parks along the way, Bryce Canyon and Glacier's Lake McDonald are favorites, though Kalaloch Beach in Olympic National Park holds a special place, my family has made the trip there annually for four generations and over 50 years. I also love a good rockhounding adventure, from digging sapphire gravel in Philipsburg, Montana, to hunting opals in Denio, Nevada (Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas is on my bucket list!). I've always loved being part of a team, from Gaelic football in my younger days to watching my kids play soccer now, with a little pickleball keeping things spicy. And when I want to slow down, you'll find me with a good book in my hammock.
