
Once complete, both rings are meticulously cleaned, matte finish applied, and steamed to reveal their full brilliance and beauty.

Castings come out with a smooth but matte surface finish and require significant hand work to bring out the perfect final polish. Tim uses a combination of tools to further clean up the rough casting and ensure that even the most intricate details are perfectly smooth.

Some of the tools include a felt polishing wheel, file, bristle brush, and muslin buff. For hard-to-reach areas that standard tools can’t access, he also uses a polishing compound with a string and a technique called thrumming - an old-school but highly effective method for refining tight interior curves and fine details.
